How the YES Initiative Operates

The YES Initiative is an action-oriented international governance network, bringing together diverse stakeholders to effectively protect and restore the Yellow Sea environment. Its structure consists of the General Assembly, Board of Directors, and Working Committees, ensuring efficient decision-making and practical environmental actions.

1. General Assembly (GA)

1. The highest decision-making body of the YES Initiative.
2. Includes all member institutions and individual members.
3. Held annually with additional special sessions convened if necessary.
4. Key Roles: Electing the Board of Directors Approving the annual plan and strategic direction Setting the policy framework for the initiative

2. Board of Directors (BoD)

1. The executive decision-making body under the General Assembly.
2. Comprised of 40 representatives from the 8 Colleges, with each College electing 5 representatives (either institutions or individual experts).
3. Key Roles: Overseeing policy implementation Supervising the Working Committees Approving major environmental projects and initiatives

1. Six specialized Working Committees drive the practical activities and policy recommendations of the YES Initiative.

1. Analyzing the sources of marine microplastic pollution and developing mitigation strategies.
2. Researching marine waste management policies and coastal cleanup programs.
3. Promoting eco-friendly alternatives and international cooperation to reduce pollution.

2. Coastal Pollution & Safety Committee

1. Developing response strategies for marine pollution incidents and coastal contamination.
2. Establishing sustainable marine safety management frameworks.

3. Climate Change Committee

1. Conducting research on sea level rise, ocean acidification, and climate change impacts.
